Following a tradition set by Dr Gus Cameron, this practice provides a comprehensive denture service for all patients wanting complete or partial dentures (plates).
There is a high chance you will be booked in with Dr Alan Payne, Dentist and Prosthodontist who will use his skills as a denture specialist to provide you with the highest quality dentures.
Our laboratory work is done by skilled dental technicians in Auckland with materials that meet New Zealand Health and Safety regulations. Unlike other dental practices in Northland, none of our denture laboratory work is sent offshore to countries like China or Thailand where often substandard materials are used in the efforts of reduced costs.
Complete dentures replace all of the teeth, while partial dentures fill in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevent other teeth from shifting position. Complete dentures are “immediate” or “conventional.” An immediate denture is a complete denture or partial denture that is inserted on the same day, immediately following the extraction of the natural teeth. The immediate denture acts as a Band-Aid to protect the tissues and reduce bleeding after tooth extraction. The conventional denture is ready for placement in the mouth about 3 months after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed.
Well-fitting partial dentures are essential to maintaining the longevity of your remaining natural teeth. The preferred partial denture is a custom-designed metal (chrome-cobalt) based denture which obtains support from both the natural teeth and supporting gums.
Other types of partial dentures are acrylic (plastic) ones as well as flexible ones called non-metal clasp dentures. We do not recommend these for long-term use in view of their possible detrimental effect on the remaining natural teeth and gums.
