Gus Cameron graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and has managed his own private practice since 1977. He moved to New Zealand with his family in 2002 and decided to settle in beautiful Whangarei, Northland.
As the owner of Gentle Dental Company, Gus Cameron has built a team of highly qualified professionals, including Alan Payne (Prosthodontist), Christine Bellmann (Dentist) and Tony Sun (Dentist) and Anette Franck (Hygienist).

Dentist and specialist prosthodontist Alan Payne has nearly 40 years’ experience across private practice, university teaching and senior management. In addition to all aspects of general dentistry, for more than 25 years, he has specifically been making the finest specialist crowns and dentures for adults allowing them to smile with confidence and improved self-esteem.
Versatility in treatment options is offered with “normal dentist” and “specialist” approaches, involving a variety of skills, procedures and materials to accommodate all patients’ needs.
Alan has an international reputation for rehabilitating patients with dental implant crowns/bridges and dentures working closely with other specialist colleagues in Auckland for complex cases.
Christine has been a dentist for ten years, having graduated from the University of Carl Gustav Carus in Dresden (Germany) in 2009. Following that, she obtained a wealth of experience working in public and private dental clinics in Germany, United Kingdom, the Caribbean and New Zealand. Being fluent in both English and German, she moved to Whangarei in 2017.
Although Christine is widely experienced in all aspects of general dentistry, she has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery and implants. By offering surgical placement of implants using the latest digital techniques to her patients with missing teeth, she works closely with Alan to restore peoples smiles with implant crowns and bridges.
Her focus is the patients’ needs, providing them with high quality dental work as well as clinical advice for their long-term oral health. The latest techniques for her patients are obtained by regularly attending national and international dental meetings.
Tony is a graduate of the University of Otago who has recently moved to Whangarei to enjoy the sunny beaches and join this acclaimed line-up of dentists. With heritage from China, he’s fluent in both English and Mandarin, Chinese.
Passionate towards all fields of dentistry, Tony prioritises and puts his patients’ needs first, providing ultimate care in a friendly setting with the help of digital and aesthetical technologies. His main goal is to empower patients and their smiles.
Martin completed his degree in 2002 at the University of Pretoria, South Africa and in 2012 he completed his post graduate diploma in Root Canal Therapy from the same university. In 2019 he moved from South Africa to our amazing town and he joined our incredible team in February 2020.

Anette is a University of Otago graduate with 15 years of experience and is truly passionate about her job. Being a most meticulous dental hygienist, she has a wealth of practical knowledge for the best ways for you to look after your teeth and gums. Her aim is always to work with you to maintain the health of your periodontal tissues (gums) and provide professional oral hygiene coaching. She has a wealth of knowledge on the best ways to look after your teeth and gums, which she is always eager to share.
She is certified to administer local anaesthesia for the best outcome after non-surgical periodontal (gum) treatment. Anette also has advanced training allowing her to take X-rays for these patients. A high portion of her work load is for altering patients’ confidence and self-esteem with successful tooth whitening procedures. Anette also provides comprehensive denture, crown and bridge, and implant hygiene supportive care for patients.
